Weber Q100: Portable Grill Heaven
There is nothing quite like cooking on a gas grill, especially one like the Weber Q100. But you can’t take just any grill with you on your outings. That’s where the Weber Q100 excels. This grill is designed to be portable and easy to take with you on just about any trip. The grill has a spacious cooking area, powered by a 8,500 BTU stainless-steel burner. You won’t need matches to light it and the valve is adjustable.
Weber Q100: Size
Let’s look closer at the size of the Weber Q100. The cooking area is a very generous 189 square inches. With that type of real estate you can easily cook 6 burgers with a little room to spare. You could even cook 2 large steaks on that guy. Weber did a great job at designing a burner that provides a nice even heat across the surface of the grill. On my large grill at home, I have areas that I’ve learned are just not hot enough to work with. With this grill you have very few cold spots thanks to the nice burner.
One of the great benefits of a small footprint, like the Weber Q100, is that it’s very efficient with it’s use of fuel. Even when using the grill 1-2 times a week, a single 5 lb propane tank will usually last you all summer. Another great feature is the heavy cast-iron porcelin covered grill racks. They are very sturdy and are very handy with this unit. Over and over I’ve heard the praise from users that the grill racks make this the great unit that it is. The competition in this category fail to compete because they often use flimsy racks. This alone makes it worth using over and over again.
Weber Q100: Complaints
One of the complaints that I have heard over time with this grill, is that if it’s windy, the lid allows enough of the breeze inside that it can reduce the overall temperature of the heating area. Essentially what this does is lenghtens your cooking times. So if you can shelter the grill, you’ll get much better use of it.
The grill is compatible with an extension that allows you to connect larger 20 lb propane tanks to the grill, if you plan on leaving it hooked up in the backyard instead of taking it camping or on picnics. It also has a push button ignition for easy starting and a removable catch pan.
Weber even sells additional accessories to enhance the use of your Weber Q100. You can purhcase a great rolling cart for the grill that folds down for easy transportation. It’s just like having a full-sized grill on the road. They also make two side tables that you can hook on the side of the grill, which some have commented were something that they were going to get for their grill.
It’s a great grill for just about any purpose, but it shines when you take it camping and on picnics. Over and over I read about how someone had a friend who brought a Weber Q100 to a bar-b-que and they had to get one.
